Valcyte treats or prevents infections caused by cytomegalovirus (CMV).

Take Valcyte exactly as your doctor ordered.

Take Valcyte at the same times every day.

Take Valcyte with food.
- Keep taking the medicine until it is gone or until your doctor tells you to stop.

It is very important that you do not miss any doses of Valcyte. Call your doctor if you miss a dose.

Valcyte does not cure CMV eye infections, but it may keep the infection from getting worse. If you have a CMV eye infection, you will need to have your eyes tested regularly while taking Valcyte.

If your symptoms of CMV get worse while you are taking this medicine, contact your transplant coordinator or your doctor.

There are many medicines that can interfere with your Valcyte. Always check with your doctor before taking any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines (for example aspirin), vitamins, herbals, or vaccines.

Do not keep Valcyte in your bathroom. Keep your Valcyte at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
