Jin Shin Jyutsu: Self-Help for Sleep

Many people have trouble falling or staying asleep. This can be caused by illness, medicines, stress, or a busy life. The holds below help calm the body and relax the mind so you can rest. Try them before going to bed or if you wake up and cannot get back to sleep.

Thumb Hold

Wrap the fingers of your right hand around your left thumb. Hold deep into your palm.

Thumb Then Little Finger Hold

  • Wrap your right hand around your left thumb.

  • Then wrap your right hand around your left little finger

  • Then wrap your left hand around your right thumb.

  • Then wrap your left hand around your right little finger.

  • Spend 5 minutes on each finger. Repeat as often as you like.

Interlaced Fingers

Interlace the fingers and place them on the center chest. If this is uncomfortable or difficult to do you may place one hand on top of the other with palms facing the chest.

Shoulder with Groin Area

Place your right hand over your left shoulder near your neck. At the same time, hold your left groin area with your left hand. Reverse for the other side of the body.
